Details | | Mexican Train Dominoes is played with a set of ninety one double-twelve dominoes and we play with up to five players per table. Play starts from a central hub, each player has their own train of dominoes and there is a 'Mexican Train' of dominoes that any player can play on. If you can't go you pick up one domino and can play it if you're able. If you play a double you get another go and the aim is to be the first player to use all of their dominoes. You score the total of all the dots on the dominoes left in your hand when a player uses their last domino, so the lowest score wins. The first round starts with the double twelve and we work our way down to double zero or until its 17:00.
We try to start at 14:00, but players who are running late can join a table with the least number of players, although they must start with the same score as the player in last place on that table.
We usually draw cards to determine which players are playing at which position on a particular table, but I'm happy to run a table for new players or those wanting to learn more about the game, just let me know before we get started. The rules will be learnt along with hints and tips about tactics and strategies by playing some games.
There is no charge for using Gravesend ASDA's Community Room and you get three hours free parking, which can be extended at Customer Services by saying that you are there for a meeting and you're from the u3a. There is free tea, coffee, sugar, mugs and hot water available, but we need to supply our own milk and biscuits. I'll bring a flask of milk and players are welcome to bring biscuits to share.
Regards,
Peter. |
