We hope this group will lead on to looking at modern day architecture and the issues of building today, as well as buildings in other parts of the world. In warmer months we organise architectural walks around Bristol and we are also hoping in the future to organise trips further field.

The leader is a professional artist, Steve Wheeler, who, with great enthusiasm, teaches and encourages members of any ability to improve their skills. His view is that anyone can express themselves with paint. There is a charge of £5 per session which includes materials. This is a taught group of budding artists of any level - the helpful and enthusiastic professional tutor also provides materials.

Details We meet every last Monday of the month from 2.30 to 4.00 in sheltered accommodation just off the Gloucester Road, Bishopston. We bring our own quiz material, take turns to ask questions, and generally work in a collective, non-competitive manner (scoring is less important to us than trying to improve our general knowledge). However, occasionally we do split into teams for a more formal session. We meet every month where at least four of us can attend, which sometimes means an August meeting does not happen.

Details Yoga not only helps to improve mobility, flexibility and strength but it encourages a general sense of well-being through the practice of gentle movement, breathing and relaxation. Each session starts with a short time to centre through awareness and breathing before gentle exercises to warm the body. Then we have the main part of the practice, the postures or asana, and finish with relaxation. Yoga encourages a sense of living in the moment by being mindful of our bodies and how we respond to movement, so we always practise within our safe and comfortable limits.

The book we use is 'Living Italian', a popular course which has been around a long time and is now updated. This is mainly for revising and practising at home what we have learnt in our sessions.

Details Our main purpose is to learn to speak and socialise in Spanish in a 'live' situation, through imagined dialogues in situations encountered in likely conversations in Spain or South America. We work from approximately Intermediate level. We use Pasos 2 Intermediate Spanish book for reading and listening comprehension, verbs and grammar with Spanish conversation all through the lesson. We also do homework. Sometimes we get interesting articles from a Spanish newspaper on the internet and discuss it when we meet, we also get Spanish songs and Spanish poetry, do the preparation at home then read and discuss them when we meet. We occasionally meet in a coffee shop, or even go to a flamenco evening. We would welcome a native Spanish speaker or someone who is very fluent, to join our group to guide us from time to time.

Lowry, John Piper, Art Nouveau as well as exploration of the work of local artists working from a contemporary perspective.

We also have a large collection of CDs in our cupboard. This is a most enjoyable way to spend an afternoon and, perhaps, hear music by composers of whom you have never heard. A cup of tea and biscuit mid afternoon is very welcome.

We work from approximately Intermediate level. We use Pasos 2 Intermediate Spanish book for reading and listening comprehension, verbs and grammar with Spanish conversation all through the lesson. We also do homework. Sometimes we get interesting articles from a Spanish newspaper on the internet and discuss it when we meet, we also get Spanish songs and Spanish poetry, do the preparation at home then read and discuss them when we meet. We occasionally meet in a coffee shop, or even go to a flamenco evening. We would welcome a native Spanish speaker or someone who is very fluent, to join our group to guide us from time to time.

Details Yoga not only helps to improve mobility, flexibility and strength but it encourages a general sense of well-being through the practice of gentle movement, breathing and relaxation. Details Our main purpose is to learn to speak and socialise in Spanish in a 'live' situation, through imagined dialogues in situations encountered in likely conversations in Spain or South America. We work from approximately Intermediate level. We use Pasos 2 Intermediate Spanish book for reading and listening comprehension, verbs and grammar with Spanish conversation all through the lesson. We also do homework. Sometimes we get interesting articles from a Spanish newspaper on the internet and discuss it when we meet, we also get Spanish songs and Spanish poetry, do the preparation at home then read and discuss them when we meet. We occasionally meet in a coffee shop, or even go to a flamenco evening. We would welcome a native Spanish speaker or someone who is very fluent, to join our group to guide us from time to time.

Details A group for people who enjoy classical music, and a way of expanding our knowledge of it. Details Our main purpose is to learn to speak and socialise in Spanish in a 'live' situation, through imagined dialogues in situations encountered in likely conversations in Spain or South America. We work from approximately Intermediate level. We use Pasos 2 Intermediate Spanish book for reading and listening comprehension, verbs and grammar with Spanish conversation all through the lesson. We also do homework. Sometimes we get interesting articles from a Spanish newspaper on the internet and discuss it when we meet, we also get Spanish songs and Spanish poetry, do the preparation at home then read and discuss them when we meet. We occasionally meet in a coffee shop, or even go to a flamenco evening. We would welcome a native Spanish speaker or someone who is very fluent, to join our group to guide us from time to time.

The book we use is 'Living Italian', a popular course which has been around a long time and is now updated. This is mainly for revising and practising at home what we have learnt in our sessions.

Details Our main purpose is to learn to speak and socialise in Spanish in a 'live' situation, through imagined dialogues in situations encountered in likely conversations in Spain or South America. We work from approximately Intermediate level. We use Pasos 2 Intermediate Spanish book for reading and listening comprehension, verbs and grammar with Spanish conversation all through the lesson. We also do homework. Sometimes we get interesting articles from a Spanish newspaper on the internet and discuss it when we meet, we also get Spanish songs and Spanish poetry, do the preparation at home then read and discuss them when we meet. We occasionally meet in a coffee shop, or even go to a flamenco evening. We would welcome a native Spanish speaker or someone who is very fluent, to join our group to guide us from time to time.

Details Lessons are very informal, and despite the fact that members of the group are more or less complete beginners, Italian is spoken most of the time. The idea is to develop the ability to talk about everyday life, whilst at the same time acquiring a sound grasp of basic grammar. The book we use is 'Living Italian', a popular course which has been around a long time and is now updated. This is mainly for revising and practising at home what we have learnt in our sessions.

Details Our main purpose is to learn to speak and socialise in Spanish in a 'live' situation, through imagined dialogues in situations encountered in likely conversations in Spain or South America. We work from approximately Intermediate level. We use Pasos 2 Intermediate Spanish book for reading and listening comprehension, verbs and grammar with Spanish conversation all through the lesson. We also do homework. Sometimes we get interesting articles from a Spanish newspaper on the internet and discuss it when we meet, we also get Spanish songs and Spanish poetry, do the preparation at home then read and discuss them when we meet. We occasionally meet in a coffee shop, or even go to a flamenco evening. We would welcome a native Spanish speaker or someone who is very fluent, to join our group to guide us from time to time.

However, occasionally we do split into teams for a more formal session. We meet every month where at least four of us can attend, which sometimes means an August meeting does not happen.

Details Yoga not only helps to improve mobility, flexibility and strength but it encourages a general sense of well-being through the practice of gentle movement, breathing and relaxation. Each session starts with a short time to centre through awareness and breathing before gentle exercises to warm the body. Then we have the main part of the practice, the postures or asana, and finish with relaxation. Yoga encourages a sense of living in the moment by being mindful of our bodies and how we respond to movement, so we always practise within our safe and comfortable limits.
