Information The Group studies and discusses topics in archaeology. Our meetings usually involve one or more members leading a conversation or making a presentation on a subject of their choice. We sometimes go on outings such as to the County Museum. Our meetings take place on the second Tuesday of each month at 10am in the Cricket Pavilion at the Witchell.

Information Our focus is the appreciation of architecture of all periods and styles. We enjoy a mix of talks and visits organised by members plus the occasional guest speaker. A diary of our activities is maintained: see below for details. Our meeting in January will be a planning meeting for 207. Do come and join us. Members are very welcome to put forward ideas and themes for meetings which can be explored further. There is a strong culture of member partiipation and we do ask that members are willing to join in with short presentations or help us with longer ones. All knowledge is more than welcome. When we make visits to properties, we might take the train to London or arrange lifts for everyone who wishes to go if the visit is difficult by public transport. Some visits will be self guided and others might have guides for which there is usually a fee. Members must be fit enough to participate if they sign up for a visit.

Information This is an 8.5 mile linear walk from Chesham to Wendover following the Chiltern Link. Transport will be by 55B bus (Elm Farm 10:23, Chandos Arms WT 10:32; Wendover Clock Tower 10:39 Arr Broadway Chesham 11.29). Chiltern Link gives a good cross-section of the Chilterns with valley, ancient woodland, old church and historic routes. Route goes along the dip-slope following a dry valley (Herberts Hole). Through back of Ballinger and Lee Common to The Lee. Then to King’s Ash and down into Wendover via Hogtrough Lane. Finish 16:00. Walk will be led by fellow Strider Stephen Mulcahy.

Information Striders is a long distance walking group, complementing and expanding the 3 current u3a Walking Groups, with walks covering 8 to 14 miles. Duration and location will be dependent on season. It is planned to arrange one walk per month, initially fitted around the scheduled walks of the other 3 Walking Group, then from Sep 26 onwards in the last week of each month. A full schedule of walks will be published covering the period up to end of Dec 26.

Very flat, good paths mainly over open fields. No stiles but one gate with a high step-through. Only a short walk along the road at the end to come back into Church End Green. Starting at the NT Car Park at Ashridge and following Grim’s Ditch and the Ridgeway, visiting the Tumuli on Aldbury Nowers, and Beacon Hill Fort. Returning to the NT Car Park, via Ringsall Coppice and Pitstone Common, for a well deserved drink at the NT Café.
