Information Allsorts of Art welcomes all painting mediums, water colour, oil, gouache, in a relaxed environment, with a themed topic each month, landscape, pets, blooms, portraits, abstract. Refreshments half way. No official teacher, but no doubt learn from one another.

Information The Dunstable Architecture Group was first formed in 2007 mainly explores the Architecture and Architects of the British Landscape from Norman times up to the present day. All our presentations concentrate on the visual aspect of Architecture. In the past we have been on field trips to various towns of architectural interest and also specific buildings, as well as a number of weekends away to interesting parts of the country, Kent and Lincolnshire to name but two. These have of course been on hold over the past years but we hope to reintroduce these aspects of the group as the situation allows. Information Group Description Group: Digital Photography & Imaging Group 1 Leader/Coordinator: David Kirkpatrick Aims and Objectives of the group: To learn from each other how to improve our photography and present it in a desirable way with an aim to keep improving. Be able to understand how to edit the photo using suitable software to enhance the quality. Any expertise needed: Computer literate and be able to send and receive emails. Adding attachments. This is an intermediate level group, therefore not suitable for a complete beginner. Equipment needed (rough costs if any): Own a digital camera, computer (and have a connection to the Internet) and printer. Have Adobe Photoshop 7 or other suitable software. Maximum number permitted in the group: Nine, as members must be able to accommodate the group about once a year in their own home for the monthly meeting Location, day and time of meetings: The 3rd Thursday in the month at 2 o’clock at members’ homes A brief description of a typical meeting: We normally have a monthly photographic project with a different topic each month. Occasionally we have a photographic shoot at an agreed location. The resulting photos are sent via email to a named person each month, who will then collate them for viewing at the next meeting. We view this on screen via a computer and projector at the monthly meeting with constructive comments on each photo. Advice on how to improve the photo is also given. The group also provides photographic services by arrangement to other U3A groups, including providing pictures for the website. Some months a presentation may be made on various aspects of digital photography, including the use of software enjoy refreshments at some point in the meeting.

Information Participants must be able to lie on the floor and get up again, using a chair if necessary. Equipment needed: Yoga mat - £10+ Can of beans (or similar) or a light dumbbell (1-2 kg), cushion, water, non-stretch strap or belt, about 1.5m/5ft long. If you do not want to exercise barefoot, please bring non-slip socks. Please wear loose fitting clothing, eg. T-shirt/sweatshirt and leggings or joggers We will start with a short warm up then move on to simple yoga movements interspersed with exercises to develop muscle strength, using either your own body weight or individual weights. Each person will gradually develop their ability at their own pace, e.g. some may do full press ups whilst others will push away from the wall. Afterwards we have time for a cuppa and a chat. To see tangible progress, some practice at home is advisable!

We have a planed schedule for 2026 in including outings for visiting gardens, and at quieter times of the year we meet in members homes To watch a gardening DVD, Have Plant swaps, And sometimes hire a hall to have a speaker on a gardening subject . Costs are just to cover our trips, which members organise for each other, Including a snowdrop pouting, Bluebell outing and visits to Ascot house and Luton Hoo Walled Garden for example.

Information Meetings are fortnightly at St. Margaret's Church, 22A Bolingbroke Road, Luton, LU1 5JD. Our aim is to play and sing songs together no real expertise is needed, just learn as they go. They’ll need an acoustic guitar, nylon or steel string, perhaps a tuner and a music stand if they have one.We intend to have a summer break July and August restarting in September. A typical meeting would be: arrive just before 2:00pm, arrange chairs, tune up, go through a number of songs (song sheets will be provided). Have a refreshment break, then start again till about 3.50pm, clear up and go.

Information "As a group we decide which play we are interested in looking at: a work written by Shakespeare or another 16th/17th C playwright such as Marlowe, Jonson or Dekker. We have an introductory chat about what we are to watch (DVD), read (ourselves as the characters) or listen to (radio broadcast) - this takes a couple of meetings. We then move on to discussing the play's themes, settings, plot, characterisation and language. We are particularly interested in the play in context - seeing the play with Renaissance eyes as well as taking account of whether Elizabeth or James is on the throne when the play is first performed. Information Leader/Coordinator: Peter Smith Aims and Objectives of the group: The main aim of the group is to enjoy making music together in a friendly way. Any expertise needed: No musical background is necessary – just a love of popular music. Equipment needed: A reasonable starting ukulele costs around £40 but just come along and borrow one and then talk to the members of the group before buying one for yourself. All the music sheets are provided either by email or as paper copies. You will need several folders to keep all the sheets. Maximum number permitted: Probably about 30. Location, day and time of meeting: We are currently meeting every Monday morning from 10.00 to 12.00 at HR Memorial Hall in Westfield Road. Doors open at 9.30 for a prompt 10.00 start. Participants need to bring their own mug for tea break. £1.50 per person hall fee. A brief description of a typical meeting: We usually manage to play and sing up to 30 songs per session and have a short refreshment break halfway. A playlist for each session is available in advance.
