Members are taught techniques in various ways to help improve their work. Beginners receive instruction about the pros and cons of media, brushes, and paper, as they work through a painting they wish to try. On occasions members can have weeks where they explore other mediums like, Pastel, Pen and Wash or just Pen drawings. On request from members follow me sessions are also set up. We do accept people with Dementia as this helps stimulate the mind, we do have one member with this disease.

Play Reading 1

Information

Play Reading 2

Information We usually meet on the third Monday of the month between 10 am and 1 pm and take it in turns to hold the session at each other's homes - this is voluntary and not a problem if you are unable to accommodate this. Most plays take around 2 hours to read so there's time to talk about the play that's being read and what to read next, as well as enjoying the host's refreshments. We read a cross section of plays from thrillers (Murder Mistaken by Janet Green) to bedroom farces (Bedside Manners by Derek Benfield). We don't act out the plays - we just read them so acting skills are completely unnecessary. It's a fun way to relax and enjoy three hours of being completely taken out of yourself

We walk once a month, for 4 or 5 miles at a moderate pace, and the usual starting time is 10.30 a.m. These are round walks which end at a pub or similar watering hole, where the walkers can enjoy some food and drink together. The programme is published in the monthly newsletter, and information about forthcoming dates is sent out by e-mail. For those who would enjoy a greater challenge, there will be walks of 6 miles or more, organised from time to time by a walking group member. Further information will be published in the newsletter, or circulated by e-mail from the co-ordinator. You need to be reasonably fit and able to clamber over a stile, but apart from that, anyone can join us for this most enjoyable and healthy activity.
