Details | | Early Music encompasses music from about the 1600s in four parts, SATB, by composers such as Byrd, Tallis, Gervaise, Dowland, Monteverdi, Gibbons, Widman, etc.
Instruments would include all sizes of recorders, violins, flutes, cello, etc.
Music access will be provided via gDrive download so you can print out your own copy with mp3s. A playing list will be sent prior to each meeting.
Participants will need the ability to sight read music and to hold a part so it is not suitable for beginners.
You will probably also need a good sense of humour as we hope this will be a journey of learning for all participants rather than tuition. We do know that we are not going to be the leading group of players of early music on authentic instruments, but that is not the point – we want to give ourselves the experience of the qualities which go with “Early Music"
